PortunusHello, Yes, I am sad to see the BBS go, it's been part of my life for a long time. However I wouldn't have been happy keeping it going, so I guess it's one of those unavoidable things. When a person decides to setup a BBS they do so for a number of reasons. For me it was that I wanted to contribute to the BBS world, and also I got a real buzz out of people communicating, making new friends and stuff like that. As far as the actual reasons for closing go... maybe I could have improved things by running this BBS with an iron fist and becoming more of a dictator. However I have never run a BBS in that way, and I wouldn't have been happy doing it. It was either a free, unrestricted atmosphere or nothing at all. I wanted to be a BBS in auckland that made a difference over the other ones, and I think I probably achieved that. :-) Those who make judgements on the way I run the BBS or what should or shouldn't have done should keep their comments to themselves. If you know lots about running a BBS, then go and set one up... people who run BBSs devote much time, energy and $$$ into their systems and should have every say on how they are run. I think some users here forget that even though this BBS was run in a very relaxed fashion, access to it is not a right. How many of you would pay $100 per month + power + hardware costs to have people abuse you for it? It can get quite depressing. On the good side, people have had a lot of fun here, made new friends, maybe made some new enemys (!)... but hopefully we can remember PLCBCS in a fond sorta way. I have to thank all the responsible users who have managed to help PLCBCS come as far as it did, and also some of the more irresponsible users for helping keep things interesting. :-) Can't think of much more to say other than goodbye to everyone, and the best of luck in the future.
