The PLCBCS Frequently Asked Questions File
------------------------------------------

Q) Why is PLCBCS closing down?
A) I have been running this BBS for a long time and I've pretty much had
enough.  This BBS started in 1992 and I was 17 years old then... it's
6 years later and I guess my goals and general outlook on life has
changed.  A lot of the users on here changed and generally things went
downhill and I guess that's also why I decided to close down.

Q) What does PLCBCS stand for?
A) Portunus's Little Computer Based Conversation System.
A bit of history on that...  A long time ago a friend of mine ran a BBS
called Prologue's Little BBS.  I didn't want to completely rip off his
BBS name and call mine Portunus's Little BBS.  So I used CBCS instead.
That came from an old BBS package called Opus-CBCS, it was the Opus
Computer Based Conversation System, written by Wynn Wagner III.

Q) Could I please be validated?
A) No! If you'd read the screens when you signed up as a new user you'd
know that there is no validation here.  We don't require any real
details from you and you have full access from your first call.

Q) How do I get access to Node 4?  [No longer valid since BBS is closing]
A) Node 4 is run on a donation basis with a limit of 12 people having
access.  The limit of 12 users has already been reached.  In early
April everyone's access to Node 4 will run out, so if you are interested,
leave a message to Portunus closer to the time.  The costs are $12.50
for 6 months access and $25 for 12 months access, limited to a total
of 12 users.  These charges mean you are helping pay for the phone line.
I make no money out of the 4th node, it runs at a small loss.

Q) Are there any files available for download?
A) No!  All you can do here is read and write messages, and chat to other
   users who are online.

Q) Can you change it so that more than two people can chat at once?
A) No!  This has been discussed at length.  This BBS was started as a
message-based BBS and I would like to keep it that way if possible.
The current chat system allows you only to chat to one other person,
however this facility is frequently abused and used for hours in peak
times.  If 3 or 4 way chat was possible it would be even harder to get
   through than it is now.

Q) Could you give me a list of all the girls on this BBS?
or - Could you tell me what xyz's real name is?
A) No!  Do you remember that when you signed up the BBS didn't ask you for
any real details?  I don't have anyones real details, and even if I did,
I wouldn't give them out to anyone.  If you want to know what someones
number or name is, try leaving them a message and asking them.  If they
want to let you know, they will.

Q) How do I get in contact with the SysOp?
A) On the BBS: Leave a message to Portunus or Primal in area 2
